Privacy Policy

Ear to Eye for iPhone & Android · effective September 26, 2026

The short version: Ear to Eye has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of ours. We collect nothing. Audio is transcribed by the platform speech system (Apple on iOS; the Android SpeechRecognizer, typically Google speech services, on Android). Transcripts stay on your device unless you export them.

What the app does with audio

When you tap Listen, Ear to Eye captures audio from the microphone and sends it to the platform speech recognition API for transcription. Captures run only while Listen is active, after you grant the required permissions.

iPhone / iPad: Apple's Speech framework. Depending on device and iOS settings, Apple may process audio on-device or on Apple's servers. That processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy. The app asks for Microphone and Speech Recognition permission first.
Android: the system SpeechRecognizer. On most devices this uses Google speech services, which may process audio on-device or on Google's servers under Google's privacy policy. The app requests the microphone (and may use the network permission solely so that recognizer can reach the platform service). We do not operate that service.

We — the developer — never receive, store, or have access to your audio.

What stays on your device

Transcripts exist in the app on your device. They leave it only when you choose to export or share one (for example as a PDF), using the standard share sheet to a destination you pick.
Settings (pace, display mode, text size) are stored locally on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Ear to Eye has no user accounts, no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and no backend of ours. The app makes no network connections to services we operate.

Apple (App Store / TestFlight) or Google (Play) may provide aggregate information such as crash logs according to your device sharing settings and their policies. Google Play Data safety for this app declares that the developer does not collect user data; microphone audio used for live captions is processed by the platform speech provider as described above, not by us.

Recording consent

Captioning conversations or calls may be treated like recording them under the laws where you live — some US states require the consent of everyone involved. You are responsible for using the app lawfully.

Children

Ear to Eye is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
